FINALLY was in the casa to see a full show on this tour. Staples Center was packed to the brim (Clippers season ticket holders got to feel what it was like) and the boys did not disappoint. Like I said, it was hot, smoking fire in downtown Los Angeles.
The show opened powerfully - the video backdrop is pretty stunning. A little Stevie and a little Marvin (I think) sandwiched Vultures. Perfectly Lonely and Slow Dancing are two of my favorites, beautifully accented by Tubbs' intro... "if I don't get lucky, you don't get lucky tooooo..."
We were treated to In Your Atmosphere (LA Song)... I still remember its debut at the Santa Barbara Bowl back in 2002. Still love that song. Got some Tom Petty and Buckley as icing on the Sprinkles cupcake.
Steve tore it up before Waiting - someone mighta gotten hurt. And/or pregnant. All the Dodgers fans felt 8th inning heroics on the way when we heard Journey in Half of My Heart.
Beautiful encore to end a fantastic evening. There's something really special about seeing a bunch of friends-who-are-more-like-family-than-friends at these kinds of shows. What a night...
Now...to Vegas or not to Vegas?
