HELP THE YOUNG STORYTELLERS FOUNDATION.

(Skip the rundown and just go here. If you'd like.)

I know we all need a little bit of help these days, but I wanted to raise my hand for a program I really care about. I've mentioned Young Storytellers before - a team of ten mentors leads an 8-week session in which ten 4th- and 5th-graders complete a 5-7 page completely original screenplay. At the end of the 8 weeks, the mentors bring in actors who act out each little writer's story in front of an assembly ("The Big Show") of students, friends, and family. The writers see the stories they created come to life. It's a pretty incredible journey to watch (and I think sometimes that the mentors get as much, if not more, out of it as the ten and eleven year-olds.

YSF needs support in order to keep the program flourishing in 35 Los Angeles-area schools. All of the mentors are volunteers, but we need supplies for the sessions and have traditionally rewarded the writers with a pizza party before their Big Show. Some of these things are in jeopardy of being lost without a little bit of help.

I'm the head mentor for this semester's group at View Park Prep Elementary. We have a sponsorship page set up here. Any funds we raise help all the YSF programs. Any amount ($1, $5, $10, $13.78, etc) will go a long way to helping keep this vital program alive in area elementary schools.

Thank you. Happy Daylight Savings Time Day (aka Bummed Because It's Later Than I Thought Day).

Scotty
