DAVID RYAN HARRIS, TEMPLE BAR, SEPTEMBER 19, 2008.

Was lucky enough to see your friend and mine, David Ryan Harris, tonight at the soon-to-be-no-more Temple Bar in Santa Monica, CA. He brought along some of his friends as well (including the delightful and delicious Sean Hurley and Bob Reynolds, not necessarily respectively) and rocked the temples of Temple full-band, full-on, all electric style:

Used To This
Pretty Girl (In Love With A Girl, Shining Star, Sexual Healing, Natural Woman, I Want You To Want Me)
King For A Day
The Hunter (or, "King For 5 Minutes" as this is an Albert King cover)
Sweetest Berry* (download Wayne Brady's [aka Medium Wayne] version from iTunes here
Yesterday Shutting Down*
All I Need (Everything's Not Lost)
For You**
encore-rama:
Turn Around (If You Think You’re Lonely Now)

*with Bob Reynolds on saxophone
**solo electric

The Hunter and the Gavin DeGraw verse in Pretty Girl were new to me and loved by all. I give the show a Nastia-Liukin-esque 16.125 (start value of 7.1, execution of 9.025) - a small deduction was taken for not paying attention to the trio of folks giving their all in the Turn Around hand gesture crowd participation portion. Everything rocked a little harder tonight down on Wilshire.

DRH left us saying he was going to lock himself in the lab and emerge in the winter with some new songs to keep us warm (not verbatim). He also said he was going to write a song so sexy HE would get pregnant by listening to it (verbatim). Then he said "just kidding", but I don't believe him one bit.

Either way, can't wait.
