TONIGHT: THIS WEEKEND!

Just got back from the Wiltern where I was doing some more recon work for the aforementioned Vampire Weekend cover band. The show, despite some sound/tech problems, was a good little time. Oxford Comma and Walcott are still the favorites, though the guys brought out a small string section for M-79 that was neat-o.

Anyway, the perfect name for my band-of-the-not-so-near-future came to me several months ago: This Weekend. Let it sink in. Nice, right?

THIS WEEKEND. Not only is it relevant to the material we'll be playing, but our branding is already on marquees and posters all over the country. Everyone knows THIS WEEKEND. Everyone loves THIS WEEKEND. "THIS WEEKEND was awesome." "I can't wait for THIS WEEKEND." Everybody's working for THIS WEEKEND.

"What's the name of your band?"
"This Weekend."
"Oh...bummer. I'm out of town until Sunday. What are you guys called?"
"We are This Weekend. The show is on Monday."

Imagine the hysteria. Admittedly more from confusion than infatuation, but just imagine it.

And then, our keyboard player (who will BE David Archuleta instead of just look like him) will start a side project that will open up for us, and the name of his band will be SOLD OUT so that our listing on club flyers will look something like:

SOLD OUT
THIS WEEKEND
TUESDAY NIGHT
TICKETS AVAILABLE
